Modern Disney Princess: Tiana

Hi guys,

We are getting close to the end of this series, as there are only a few Disney Princesses left.  If you are feeling nostalgic or just new to my blog head on over to the search bar (on the right underneath my blog banner) and enter "Modern Disney Princes" to see all of the outfit posts.  I know I started this post on a sad note but don't worry.  Since you guys loved this series so much (and I had fun making it) be on the look out for the switch from "Modern Disney Princess" to "Modern Disney Character"; that's right I will continue my Disney inspired outfit posts. :) So there will be more fun on the way.

Up next in the series is Tiana.  Tiana was added to the Disney princess family more recently than the princesses I have featured in the previous posts.  Tiana is one of the most hard-working Disney princesses... a girl with a dream.  You go girl!

Now, I realized that I  changed the formal look up quite a bit but I wanted to stay with the floral/nature vibe.

Snow Day

Hi guys,

I've been inspired by the persistent snow-y conditions here in NYC this season, well it looks like the worst of winter is behind us (but I may be speaking too soon).   Here is a nice makeup look it is borderline a "no-makeup makeup look" but with the use of a soft light color for eyeshadow.

Are you inspired by the weather?

The Importance of Cleaning Makeup Brushes

Hi guys,

I know a lot of you know about this, but I find this topic so important that I decided to make a post about it.

Everything you put on your face should be clean, this includes your makeup brushes.  The last thing you want is to use a dirty brush (that looks clean) to apply makeup to your freshly cleaned face.  This can lead to acne.

I don't know about you but I find cleaning makeup brushes fun.  :) For those of you who don't really like cleaning, cleaning brushed are quick and easy.
Here is how I do it:
  1. Run brushes under water
  2. Use a hand soap  or baby shampoo and work it through the bristles
  3. Rub the brush on the back of your hand, as if you were painting (now you should see all of the makeup coming off).
  4. Rinse the brush until the water that comes out of it is completely clear
  5. Store with the brush up and handle down.
If you follow these steps your brushes should be dry in about 8 hours so it is best to do this before bed.  I clean my eye makeup brushes once a or twice a week and my face brushes every other day.

Modern Disney Princess: Aurora (Sleeping Beauty)

Hi guys,

I'm really happy that you guys are enjoying the series!
Up next is Aurora.  I know many of you are probably going to get disappointed in me saying this, but Aurora was never really one of my favorite Disney princesses.  I'm not sure why but she was always just "okay" to me.  If any one agrees with me let me know in the comments (I'm probably in the minority).  Also if you disagree and want to tell me why she is your favorite Disney princess, please comment below.  (I love reading your comments!)  Regardless, I always thought that the name Aurora was a pretty cool name.

Here is Aurora in her casual attire... You know, when she was hiding out in the forest for most of her life...

Do you remember the whole pink/blue dress war in the movie?  I had to decide between the two for this look.  If you don't remember the whole dress war this should remind you.

I went for the pink dress because blue is already a pretty popular in the Disney princess world.

I have to admit I'm a fan of Aurora's A-line dress because it isn't too poofy, so I really wanted to keep that for the look.  I went for a jewel encrusted sweet heart neckline instead of a statement necklace.  I also included diamond earrings and a silver crown instead of the gold one she wears.

Isn't this look fitting of a prom queen?

Let's Chat #13: Where am I going?

Hi guys,

I realized I owe you guys a "Let's Chat", considering I haven't done one since NYE.  So although the title of this post looks like a desperate cry for help, it really isn't.  (Sorry if I alarmed you).  This post is going to be about your future, which I'm looking at right now in my crystal ball.  *Sigh* If only it were that easy to tell where you would end up a few years from now.

The truth is many of us are approaching that time in our life where we are stressing about where we will be a couple years down the road (college), it can be a bit stressful and intimidating.  It is intimidating to think that the major you are pursuing can determine your work life.  I think this happens to most people in college because unlike high school where your schedule is set up for you, everyone is put at a crossroads and is forced to choose.  In college more responsibility forces you to think more about what you want.  Also although I mentioned college people this applies to others as well.

Most of the pressure I am facing is to make the right decision and more importantly answer the daunting question...  "What on do you want to do with your life?"  This question does not only apply to future careers but, everything; that's what makes some people duck and cover.  Although I am not completely certain as to my answer the previous question,  I am not crumbling under the weight of it.  Many people I know are haunted by that question.  I'm writing to say, "relax", most people don't know exactly what they want in college, just try to find your way.  Find something you like to do and do it, as cliche as that sounds it is true.  If you feel like you are completely lost make a list of things you don't want/want to do, now you know what to avoid.  Get to know yourself, don't just follow what your friends are doing.  Also you are allowed to change your goals in life as you grow it is completely OK (that should take a little pressure off).

I hope this helped someone who is struggling with this issue right now!
