Monet's Garden

Hi everyone,

I think you guys really liked my other outfit post that was inspired from a painting (here), so here is another one (yes, this one is also garden inspired).

Would you wear this outfit?

Let's Chat #27: My Favorite Ways to Study

Hi everyone,

I hope you are all good.  I decided to make a post like this because people have been asking me how to study.  While I don't think that there is anything particularly amazing about my studying habits, I will share what I do and hopefully you find the information useful.

  • Find a good spot to study.  I study at the dining table.  I know many people need solitude when studying and if that is the case find the most quiet place in your house (hopefully you won't have to resort to the bathroom).  I like studying at the dining table because I need room when I study.  Also when food is ready I'm the first one at the table.
  • If you feel like you listen to music try listening to classical.  I personally can not study with any other type of music and words are too distracting (especially when reading).
  • Give yourself time limits when doing things.  It took me a while to figure this one out but it is necessary (to me).  Time limits stop you from procrastinating and keep you on track!  It may be helpful to make these time limits before you begin studying and write them down.  Which leads me to my next point...
  • Keep a planner or agenda book!  Set goals/stay organized!
  • Take breaks in between subjects.

Fancy Lights

Hi everyone,

If you haven't noticed, as of late, I have been very much into room decor and this includes fancy light fixtures.  Sadly the electrical layout of my room does not support a having a fancy chandelier (if I were to have one, I would have to remove my ceiling fan and I'm not doing that), maybe in the future I can do something about that.

Anyway... if you couldn't tell already... I find lighting a very important part of a room; it sets the mood etc.  So if any of you guys are planning on jazzing up your room in any sort of way (without having to go all the way), I suggest getting a conversational light fixture.  Here are some of the light fixtures I have been ogling:

Valentine's Day Dresses

Hi guys,

With Valentine's Day less than one week away many of you are probably choosing date outfits etc.  Here are some dresses from casual to ball gowns that I thought were cute.  If anyone will be attending a Valentine's Day ball of sorts consider yourself super lucky!  Even if you aren't attending such a glamorous event you can still enjoy the beauty of ball gowns (haha).

Weekend Outfit

Hi everyone,

If you didn't read my last post I'll fill you in: I am back at school again, as of this passing week a new semester is underway.  When this weekend finally arrived, I was ready to throw on some comfy clothes again (not like this week was especially hard or anything).

So here is a very casual outfit that can easily be changed from"bumming out" clothes to"going out" clothes, if your plans change.

How do you spend your weekends? How do you like to spend your weekends?

Let's Chat #26: Vacation, Snow, and Going Back to Class

Hi everyone,

Well if you live in the US you probably heard about this big-ole snow storm that was supposed to hit. NYC shut down trains, buses and roads, expecting a monster type storm.  Well yeah there was a storm, a lot of snow but... I think it is safe to say the meteorologists were pretty wrong about the magnitude of the storm (with respect to the NYC area).  I wish I could say that the picture below was the view from my window, but it isn't (yes I just put that picture up because it looked pretty).  So anyway, I am in my house typing this post for all of you.

If you didn't know, I have been on break this much (no classes); but, I will be back at school tomorrow.  I don't want to go back, but honestly I don't think I would ever want to go back.  Not because my college is horrible, but because why would you ever want to end a vacation?  I know some people who get so bored they can't wait to go back to class (Isn't that crazy?).  I can't imagine being that bored!  With all that being said, I really enjoyed this break.  I got so much that I wanted to do, done!

What are your favorite things to do when it snows outside?  Do you stay in or go out?

Enchanted Garden

Hi everyone,

This is the first outfit post I created inspired by a scenery photo.  It's a surprise that out of all of the outfit posts I have done, none of them have been based on a scenery photo.  Maybe it is the lack of greenery (winter), or just my general love/longing for the warmer months that made me fall in love with this photo.

Anyway, here is the look:

Retro Pink: A Makeup Look

Hi everyone,

I decided to put together a little guide to re-create this makeup look.  Hopefully you'll like it, especially if you love pink!  I feel like this look is very flexible because you do not necessarily have to choose pink as the main color; because this look is very monochromatic you can substitute it with any color you like.  Personally super-pink makeup (especially lipstick) doesn't look right on me, so I would substitute pink with another color.

Never the less this look is very cute.  If you are feeling playful and/or you are feeling that retro vibe complete the look with a bandana or hairband.

Let's Chat: #25

Hi everyone,

Here is another "Let's Chat" post.  I feel like it has been ages since I have updated you all; so this post  is over due.

"So what's been happening with you?" Oh I've just been hanging out and catching up with some friends.  It's one of the best ways to unwind after a busy semester.   Thank's for asking. :)

I recently got back from a trip.  I went with a few friends on a little adventure.  If you have followed this blog for a while or if you know me in person you probably know that I love going to new places and getting a chance of scenery.  It is so refreshing, and most of all I had a great time!

I also am in the process of redecorating my room.  I felt it was time for some much needed change.  Although I am a person who is very set in their ways, I do cherish change (sometimes).  I have been combing the web for inspiration and I am letting my mind run wild with decorating ideas!  I still have a little bit of tidying up to do, but I'd like to say that most of the heavy lifting (pun intended) is over.  This is a good opportunity to get my creative juices flowing!

And that's just half-of-a-tiny taste of the beautiful world of wall decor!
What are you all up to?
Any cool room ideas?

Lace Charm

Hi everyone,

I was feeling the urge to make a fancy outfit post.  I am in love with this dress, it is so glamorous!  I thought that since it was so classy it deserved a classic makeup look, like red lips (the official classy makeup look).

Clean Up Nice

Hi everyone,

Was getting organized on your list of New Year's resolutions?  Even if it wasn't you should make it a priority.  Being organized makes life so much easier (no joke).  But before things get easier you are going to have to do some setting up.

I am happy to say that I have gotten better at organizing my closet, this past year!  Although sometimes things do get a bit unfolded, everything is under control and I know where everything is.  Gone are the days of rummaging through my closet and making an even bigger mess.

If you plan to organize your closet setting up a plan of action is key!  You need to think about how you live your life; more specifically, how you wear your clothes.  If you love wearing big comfy sweaters keep them within reach.  If you are into layering, don't keep your tank tops with the rest of your Summer clothes.  Those are just some examples of things to consider.

Still stumped?  Here are some more things to consider:

Do you like to fold your clothes or hang them?
How can you make the best use of your clothes?
What do you wear the most?
Need more shelf space?
Which shoes have you been wearing most?

Best of 2014: Beauty

Hi everyone,

I hope you all have a Merry Christmas.  Well... if you haven't noticed the year is almost over!  I hope everyone had a great year filled with great experiences and great people.  Although this year has been stressful for me in many ways, I did have a great time.

So let's talk about something fun...beauty products!  I thought up some of my favorite beauty products I have used this year.  (Hopefully I have all of them).  I tend to be the type of person who finds a routine or product that I like and sticks to it; meaning, I will most-likely continue using these products into next year.

  • Creamy gold eyeshadows.  I have been very much into creamy gold eyeshadows this year.  The consistency is perfect for those rushed mornings, when you just want to slap something onto your eyelids and be out the door (looking good of course).
  • Nude nail polish.  This has been a personal staple of mine, and it probably will be for a very long time.  Nude nails are nice, understated, classy and versatile.
  • L'Oreal BB cream.  Ok I know I am probably one of the last people to try out BB cream; but I picked this one up and I love it.
  • Hope in a Jar cream.  This is one of my favorite face creams of all time.  The consistency is very light and whipped.  The smell is very light and clean.  The formula works like a charm and is not greasy.  Need I say more?
  • Lip-liners.  This year I have discovered the importance of lipliners. Haha
  • Dusty rose lipsticks.  I finally found my go-to lipstick shades for my olive skin!  I also learned that I can never wear straight up pink lipstick.
  • Clay masks.  I have always been a mint julep mask person but I have been changing it up.

What have been your go-to products this year?

I'M BACK!!

Merry Christmas everyone,

If you haven't read the name of this post...I'm back.  I have been missing in action to say the least.  I haven't had any time to blog this semester.  This semester was more than hectic, and I was more than happy to say goodbye to it!!

I'm glad to say that you will be seeing regular posts from me now; because I have some time to breathe and blog!

Halloween Makeup Inspiration

Hi everyone,

Planning on going all out for Halloween?  Need something last minute? (I understand).  If you you don't want to go out and buy a costume (if there are any left), makeup is a fun way to dress up without really "dressing up".  Also if you are dressing up makeup definitely completes the look.  Halloween makeup is a chance for you to be super-creative and crazy (without being judged for it).  Here are some inspiring makeup looks for you.

Dressing up this Halloween?

My Fall Must Haves

Hi everyone,

Fall to me is accessory time because you get to wear a variety of cute accessories to make your look, without freezing while doing it (Winter).  I know that we are well into fall already, and I have already become reacquainted with some of my favorite fall items, but I thought this would make for a nice little post.
I don't know about you but here are my fall must haves :) ....

  1. A portable thermos/mug.  For tea of course! Tea is a perfect companion for a morning comment to class.
  2. A beanie... for a "rather blustery day".  Also a nice scarf is nice.
  3. Booties.  I bought myself a couple this season and I have been loving them.  I usually wear tall boots,  but it is good to switch it up; especially when the weather permits.
  4. Leather jacket.  This is one of the top must haves for the season (and it should be it)!
  5. Dark lip color.  I need must  go shopping for one.  Not too dark though! Any suggestions?
What are your fall must haves?

Classic Fall

Hi everybody,

Here is a nice fall makeup look.  This look is like a nice fall twist on this look that I did a couple posts ago.  The main difference is the added neutral eyeshadow and and a bit of bronzer.  Also if you want to make this look even more fall like add a darker color lipstick (than the one pictured).  Maybe a wine color?  I the cool thing that this whole look is based off of the lipstick so you can have fun with your choice of lip color here!

What color lipstick would you wear with this look?

Let's Chat #24: Getting Perspective

Hi everyone,

We've all been there where are wallowing in your own sorrow, it doesn't seem that way to you but to others it can.  I am not talking about genuine warranted sadness here, (or even clinical depression) just a random type that creeps up on you.  When we are caught in a pickle out problems seem enormous and if we are too caught up with ourselves everything seems to be a problem (make sense?).  If we are caught up in ourselves we tend to make little problems into huge ones because we can't see anything else.  It is a concept that is a bit hard to explain, but we are almost all guilty of it (me included) once it a while.  We need to just snap out of it!

Although you can be forced to snap out of it by facing a bigger problem, that isn't something we really want.  So here are some ways to get out of your rut and get some perspective!

  • Listen to music:  This can either make things better or worse.  Do not listen to sad music it will make you more depressed.  Sometimes I listen to sad music when I am depressed and it usually adds nothing to the cause.  Listen to happy music or relaxing music (maybe even some rainforest sounds or something haha).
  • Watch a funny movie: sometimes it can be hard to find a comedy that actually makes you laugh especially when you are in a funky mood but find an old favorite.
  • Read: take yourself into another universe with your favorite characters. :)
  • Go outside!  This is my personal favorite.  Go outside and do something, anything.  A change of scenery is sometimes all I need.  Even if you   run some errands at least you will feel accomplished.
  • Talk to someone:  Go see what someone else is up to and maybe vent a bit.
  • Occupy yourself: (self explanatory).

Hopefully this is helpful to someone.

Daring Darling

Hi everyone,

I saw this dress and I wanted to I had to make an outfit post.  I love the color and the lace!  If only the  top was a little less sheer (in the bust area).  Due to the dress, the makeup must be classy and closer to the understated side.  I think the look that the model is wearing would be great for it, because it doesn't look to overdone.  It is just the right amount of makeup for the look and the updo is just perfect.
