Lets Chat #16: Make the Most this Summer!

Hi everyone,

Well it is basically Summer (not officially but whatever).  Hopefully you like Summer.  If you've been following my blog you must know that I couldn't wait for it to get warmer outside!

The warmth and sun has finally arrived.  This also means that if you are a student you are probably done with school.  It's ok if you aren't, I have spend most of my Summers doing various activities from SAT prep *shutters* to internships.  Hopefully you won't be as tied down as you are during the school year.  Summer is also that time of year where people make resolutions; think New Years resolutions with a stricter time constraint.  You've probably made one without  realizing it.  You might have said this summer I will read 25 books.  Or this summer I will spend loads more time outside.  Hopefully you lived up to them, but it is likely that you haven't.  But this Summer it's all going to change for the better because you are going to be strict with yourself.

Instead of having a strict studying schedule you are going to have a strict fun schedule!
Here are some tips (I'll try to follow them this summer along with you):

  • Make a list (and check it twice ;).  Make a list of the things you want to do.  Can't think of anything?  How about the things you wished you were doing instead of studying this school year?
  • Be realistic (yes this deserves it's own bullet point).
  • Track your progress.  I don't mean write everything down (if that helps sure).  I mean more like keep track of your goals and the projects you set yourself up for.
  • Get off the computer!  Well... try not to spend so much time on it (unless that is one of the things you want to do this summer).  The computer is time consuming.  You can start off just checking your emails and BAM 3 hours go by.
Well those are my tips (that I will be following as well).  What do you have in store for this summer? Do you have any goals?  Comment below :)

Garden Party

Hi guys,

It is Memorial Day which probably means that you might be having a BBQ or some sort of get together.  Even if you aren't having company over or attending a party, you can still have a fun time.  Hopefully the weather where you are at is pleasant; because if it is head out side to the great out doors and have a grand ole time!

A picnic or garden party isn't complete without lemonade or fresh juice.

Here is a recipe for fancy Lemonade: (20 4 oz servings):

  1. In a small saucepan, combine white sugar (1 3/4 cups) to dissolve sugar and one cup of water.  Allow to cool then refrigerate.
  2. Prepare lemon juice (2 cups) and remove the seeds.  You may also choose to remove the pulp, but leaving it will give it extra taste.
  3. Mix the chilled syrup and lemon juice in 7 cups of water.
  4. Serve.
  5. Optional:  If you want to make strawberry lemonade blend the strawberries and add them at the same time you add the lemon juice.
When you host the party what drinks do you serve?  What are your favorite party drinks?

I'm Back!

Hi guys,

I'm so happy to be blogging again.  I've been pretty stressed this past week and I'm super glad that finals are over. I spent the whole day cleaning my room.  Finals week makes everything hectic, you don't even get a chance to tidy up your room. Now I can take a breather...  Also it's Memorial Day weekend so you know what that means... The beginning of summer (kind of, sort of).  Anyone got any plans?

In other news during this hectic week I got a new order from Dazzle Deals.  I received a watch and a pair of faux leather leggings.  A word about these leggings... They don't feel anything like they look.  I actually expected them to be a bit hot and sticky feeling, but they just have a nice shine coating on them (so it isn't like wearing an oven rapped around your legs), which is perfect for the summer months.
Have a look:

Preppy Nautical

Hi everyone,

I've been really busy with the semester coming to an end and all.  I've been faced with a ton of work and haven't really gotten around to posting (not that I don't want to).  The good news is that after all of my finals, I'll finally get a break and I'll get back to my normal posting schedule.  I will return to my normal posting frequency soon.  Just hang in there! I'll be trying to do the same thing as I brace myself for the incoming finals week.

I'll leave you with  this random little fashion collage, inspired by the nice weather we have been blessed with in NYC these past couple of days.

Things I'd Like to Try/Buy:1

Hi everyone,

I know you are probably pretty familiar with "wish list" posts.  And you may be wondering "why didn't she just name this post a 'wish list'?" The answer is unlike a wish list I can't actually buy some of the things on this list and I have try them.  Well this works out great because I consider myself a pretty frugal person.   I hope you enjoy this new type of post!  Also as usual,  I encourage you to share any advice or suggestions, but especially in these types of post!

  1. Find the perfect pink lipstick.  I am on the hunt for the "perfect pink".  I want a lipstick that isn't too pink but isn't too nude.  I'm looking for like a "dusty pink" or a "dusty rose" type of color.  I've been looking around a bit (but not diligently enough I suppose).  The thing is lipstick can look completely different in the bullet than how it looks on your face.  Some even look different from swatch to actual lip application. ugh!
  2. A new recipe.  Maybe something with herbs and spices. mmmm!
  3. Try the no makeup look...as scary as it seems.
  4. Read a good book.  Or maybe a book that makes me cry.  Sometimes I like a good tear jerker.  Any suggestions?
  5. Try a new fragrance; maybe a light fresh scent.
  6. Try a shade of nail polish I have never tried before!  I'm usually very wary about choosing nail polish colors because I'm afraid of staining my nails (even though I use a base coat).  Maybe I'll borrow my good friend's pastel yellow nail polish.
Any suggestions/advice?

Room Idea: Navy and Yellow

Hi everyone,

I really feel like changing up my room so maybe I'll do something once finals are over.  After finals I can take a bit of a breather and work on some things I actually want to work on, like fixing up my room or reading a book.  I am really loving this color combination it's so happy and fresh (kind of like how I'll feel after finals).

Do you ever feel like a change in scenery?  What do you do when you feel that way?
